In the Gym (A Dialogue)
Learning Objective: This is a dialogue reading class. At the end of the session, the participants are expected to be able to learn new words and make their own dialogues on getting fit this summer.
Dialogue Proper
Shane: Hello, my name is Shane and I'd like to ask a few questions about getting fit.
Gym Instructor: Hi Shane. What can I do for you?
Shane: I need to get in shape.
Gym Instructor: Well, you've come to the right place. Have you been doing any exercise lately?
Shane: I'm afraid not.
Gym Instructor: OK. We'll start of slow. Which type of exercise do you enjoy doing?
Shane: I like doing aerobics, but I hate jogging. I don't mind doing some weight-lifting, though.
Gym Instructor: Great, that gives us plenty to work with. How often can you work out?
Shane: Twice or three times a week would be good.
Gym Instructor: Why don't we start with an aerobics class twice a week followed by a little weight lifting?
Shane: Sounds fine to me.
Gym Instructor: You'll need to start slowly, and build up gradually to three or four times a week.
Shane: OK. What kind of equipment will I need?
Gym Instructor: You'll need a leotard and some sneakers.
Shane: Is that all? How do I sign up for the classes?
Gym Instructor: We'll need you to join the gym and then you can choose which classes fits your schedule best.
Shane: Great! I can't wait to get started. Thanks for your advice.
Gym Instructor: No problem. I'll see you in aerobics class!
