Learning Objective: At the end of the session, the students are expected to be able to identify the difference between "Do you like...?" and "Would you like...?" expressions.

How you ever wondered how to use them or, at least, if you are using them properly in a conversation?
Well, so much for those questions because this time we will discover the secret behind these questions.
Dialogue 1
Waiter: Hello, Can I help you?
Kim: Yes, I'd like to have some lunch.
Waiter: Would you like a starter?
Kim: Yes, I'd like a bowl of chicken soup, please.
Waiter: And what would you like for a main course?
Kim: I'd like a grilled cheese sandwich.
Waiter: Would you like anything to drink?
Kim: Yes, I'd like a glass of Coke, please.
...........................(After Kim has her lunch.)...........
Waiter: Can I bring you anything else?
Kim: No thank you. Just the bill.
Waiter: Certainly.
Kim:I don't have my glasses. How much is the lunch?
Waiter: That's $6.75.
Kim: Here you are. Thank you very much.
Waiter: You're welcome. Have a good day.
Kim: Thank you, the same to you.
Dialogue 2
David: Hi Jonathan. What are you doing?
Jonathan: I'm reading this latest volume of the Harry Potter series.
David: Really! I didn't know you like reading a book.
Jonathan: I began to like it since I've read the first one.
David: So, do you like the story or you just like the writing style J.K. Rowling?
Jonathan: Both.
David: So, aside from fictions, do you also like to read love stories and novels?
Jonathan: Perhaps.
Based on the dialogues, what do you think is/are the difference/s between "Would you like.." and "Do you like..."
Discussion Proper
Exercise: The teacher will pair the participants. Each pair will try to use any of the two expressions included in this lesson by making their own dialogues.
