Who or Whom?
Using Who and Whom
Learning Objective: At the end of the session, the students are expected to be able to differentiate who and whom from one another by using them effectively in sentences.
Examples:
Question a: Who(subject) came?
Answer a: Someone(subject) came.
Question b: Whom(object) did you(subject) see?
Answer b: I (subject) saw someone(object).
In a: Who is used as the subject of a question.
In b: Whom is used as the object in a question.
Whom is used in formal English. In everyday spoken English, who is usually used instead of whom.
