On Correct Usage...
Learning Objective: This is a vocabulary-conversation class. At the end of the session, the students are expected to be able to use the target expression correctly in their own-made dialogues.

Target Expression/ Vocabularies: Go Abroad / Travel / Study Abroad
This is a phrase used by many students for a couple of reasons.
First, many students have been abroad for travel or study and also because many students plan to go abroad to study English or other subjects. With such a high interest in studying abroad, it is a wonder that so many students still make errors when speaking about it.
This lesson will teach you how to talk about the verbs used with abroad. Now you can go to any English-speaking country, and speak about it confidently.
Many learners make the mistake of inserting ‘to’ before ‘abroad’ in all of these phrases.
Incorrect: I went to abroad last summer.
Correct: I went abroad last summer.
Dialogue 1
A: I remember you saying that you’re going to go abroad this summer. How is it working out?
B: Well, I’ve changed my plans. I might go abroad next year because I’ve been tied up* at work lately.
C: Sounds great.
*tied up = very busy. You can remember this by thinking of being so busy, the work is physically tying you up so you can’t do anything other than the work.
Dialogue 2
Q: Have you ever been abroad?
A: Yes, I have. I went to Santiago, Chile. It was very beautiful.
Or No, I haven’t, but I really want to go to Brazil. I heard it’s very fun and beautiful.
