"English Pronunciation: Consonant Letters "R" and "L""
In this lesson we’re going to look at
RL together in the same word.
How are
R and
L different? Let’s take two familiar words
Right and
Light.
Let’s now talk about the position of your lips.
For /r/ your lips are more rounded. For /l/ your lips are more relaxed.
For /r/ raise the tip of your tongue towards the bump behind your upper front teeth, but it doesn’t touches. Also, the sides of your tongue touch the sides of your upper teeth.
For the /l/ press the tip of your tongue against the bump behind the teeth then let it drop down. The sides of your tongue are always down.
