Baby Brother

Cara has a new baby brother. His name is Tommy. He was just born a week ago. Cara's dad said, “Mom will need lots of help.” Cara helps feed Tommy. Cara holds the food. Mom holds the spoon and puts it in Tommy's mouth. Tommy makes a mess. When Tommy can't sleep, Cara sings him a song. She sings the ABCs. Then Tommy goes to sleep. Tommy was crying. Farms

There are many kinds of farms. Most of the food you eat comes from farms. Some farms have lots of cows. The cows make milk that people drink. Big trucks take the milk to stores. The Big Run

Mary likes to run. Ever since she was in third grade she has been training to run long distances. Now that she was in eighth grade, her parents agreed to let her run in the Banana Classic. The Banana Classic is a ten kilometer run. It takes place every year in Mattydale. The winners get a lifetime supply of peanuts and fruit juice from Paul's Peanut Stand.

Mary practiced by running for ten kilometers twice a day. On the average run, she would finish in thirty minutes. Last year's winner finished the race in twenty-six minutes and ten seconds.

On the day of the race, Mary ran faster then she ever had in the past. As she came across the last kilometer she was in fourth place. She picked up the pace and quickly leaped into second place, just as she could see the finish line. She ran fast as should in a mad dash to the finish line, but she just wasn't fast enough to get ahead of the leader.

Bobby's Big Birthday Party

Snow White
