Do you sometimes feel hesitant to go to the dentist to have your teeth examined or extracted? If your answer is yes, then this news might be a good one for you. Dentists and researchers are trying to focus on the pain that we usually feel everytime we would go to the dentist with the help of a robot. Simroid, a robot who looks like a petite Japanese lady wearing pink sweater and red high heels is the latest invention of the Nippon Dental University. She will be a training ground for dentistry students for them to be able to focus on the pain that we are feeling everytime they will examine our mouth.Using the sensors attached to the replicas of real teeth attached to her mouth, Simroid's purpose is to cry out in pain everytime something goes wrong . With her help, future dentists will be alerted if they are bringing discomfort to the patients. “Our aim is to train dentists to worry about whether patients are comfortable, and not just focus on technical expertise,” said Dr. Naotake Shibui of the Nippon Dental University in Tokyo who developed the robot along with help of technicians from Kokoro Company. Innovations for Simroid are in the process such as inserting anesthesia into her gums. With the help of Simroid, eventually everyone would always love to go back to the dentist. Simroid is indeed another product of hardwork and intelligence the Japanese people have. |
